a brighter summer day

2022

acrylic

500×500×120

I take off my glasses as I feel my breath coming out of the gap in the upper part of the mask. My sight become blurry and then I look up fine sky. I wipe the sweat off my nose while thinking of that color of the sky on that day was like this. I feel like I could see it.

I feel like I have seen it.

Edo Sarasa (Japanese calico) has long been evolved with its complex designs with everyday motifs by highly skilled craftsmanship. There are some things that will not change even in the changing ages. The blueness of the sky and the shape of the clouds are different, but the clear sky is always blue. I devised and created paper patterns that extracted only sunny days in the time axis of my life by using a motif of the sky instead of the design of everyday motifs that strongly reflect contemporariness. I this it is nice that the blueness of the sky on someday is the same as usual, so that we may remember the sky on someday when I feel the blueness of the sky on the other day.
